Do You Qualify for a Reverse Mortgage?


The qualifications for a reverse mortgage are very straightforward. You must meet the following guidelines:

  • •Be 62 years or older. (If there are two residents in the home; the youngest must be a minimum of 62 years.)
  • •Have equity in your home, which must be your primary residence (no secondary or vacation homes apply).
  • •Be willing to take a consumer education course from a counselor who is HUD-approved.

 

There are no income guidelines for the reverse mortgage, nor are there specific credit or employment qualifications.

 

What is the process to apply for a reverse mortgage?


Much like the qualifications, the process for a reverse mortgage application is simple, and we will guide you every step of the way. You will need to get a home appraisal and inspection and then we will take you through the underwriting process, as you do for any traditional mortgage.

Signing forms is the extent of your effort and we will be there to answer any questions or concerns you have as you go through the necessary paperwork.
